Big Pencils facilitates the forging of meaningful and sustainable relationships between East Anglian artists and established galleries and organisations such as UCS, Suffolk Open Studios, SuffolkArtlink, Flipside Festival, The Big Draw, PhotoEast, Sir Robert Hitcham's School, Framlingham College and Thomas Mills High School.
Its aims are:
1. To provide a focal point for local established and aspiring artists regardless of age but with some focus on young artists.
2. To provide meeting places, cost effective exhibition spaces and workshop opportunities for artists of all ages.
3. To publicise and promote the talents of these artists.
We managed to gain over £3,500 of grant funding for Sixth Form students of Art and Photography at Thomas Mills High School from the lovely people at Arts Framlingham. This money was for equipment such as printers, lenses, canvases and printing costs and will help the students with their AS and A2 level courses. We have actively encouraged and supported one Thomas Mills Student with her successful application for a Fellowship with the Photoeast organisation, see: Her work was professionally exhibited with the degree students' final show at UCS in May 2016
